About This Site

This site tracks the proposed data center and 800 MW natural gas power plant in Ashville, Ohio. As the story develops — through regulatory filings, public hearings, and council decisions — updates will be published here.

The Project

A developer has proposed building a large-scale data center in Ashville, OH, with an associated 800 megawatt natural gas power plant to supply electricity. The data center itself has received approval from Ashville Town Council. The power plant is a separate regulatory matter requiring approval from the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB).

The Ohio Power Siting Board

The OPSB is a state agency that reviews and approves large electric generating facilities in Ohio. For plants 50 MW or larger, developers must apply for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need. The board holds public hearings and accepts public comments as part of its review.
